The use of wheat flour means the cereals are not gluten-free, and people with conditions like wheat allergies or celiac disease who consume it might suffer an allergic reaction or discomfort. ![]() The Minneapolis company says wheat flour was inadvertently used in a system that normally processes gluten-free oat flour. 2015: Over half of the extractions tested from 5 boxes contained quantifiable gluten at or above 5 parts per million. 2021: No quantifiable gluten was found in the 3 boxes tested. The recall affects Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios that were made in July. Results from our 2021 spot testing are an improvement over 2015 spot testing for both Original and Honey Nut Cheerios.
